Overview

Other names

Green coffee, green coffee beans, Arabica, Robusta or the beans of several other coffee sorts

Description

Green coffee extract is extracted from unroasted green coffee beans. So, as you might have noticed, green coffee is not one distinct sort of coffee but the unroasted beans of any kind of coffee that is suitable for human consumption. Because, coffee beans are basically green if not roasted. What makes it different from roasted coffee: since it has not undergone heat treatment, many active ingredients remain active in the coffee beans, of which benefits you can enjoy in green coffee extract. As a supplement, green coffee is primarily used as a fat burner. Some studies have shown that it can lead to weight loss even if there is no calorie reduction or change in the diet. However, you should take this information with a pinch of salt, because the human body cannot break down its fat deposits if the diet and physical activity do not support this process. Green coffee extract contains chlorogenic acid in large amounts, polyphenols and, of course (since we are talking about coffee), some caffeine as well, depending on the concentration of the extract. The positive effects of green coffee on fat loss can be attributed to chlorogenic acid: this substance supports processes in the human body which can prevent carbohydrates from absorbing and transforming into body fat. Chlorogenic acid reduces the amount of glucose produced from the carbohydrates consumed. This means, it influences glucose metabolism positively by reducing insulin response and balancing blood sugar levels. The caffeine content of green coffee enhances mental and psychological functions. Similarly to coffee, it has a refreshing effect.

Please note that the effects of different green coffee supplements may differ depending on the concentration of the extract and the coffee sort it is made of.
