Caffeine contributes to an increase in endurance perfomance. In order to obtain the claimed effect, caffeine should be consumed at doses of 3 mg/kg body weight one hour prior to exercise. Caffeine helps increase alertness and concentration. With regard to the total intake of caffeine from different sources, more than 400 mg per day is not recommended.
